ACCURATE DUCT TESTING PROVIDES THE FOLOWING SERVICES

DUCT LEAKAGE TEST
This is a method that HERS raters use to pressurize the ducting in a house or business that will determine if there are any leaks. Studies indicate that duct leakage can account for a total of 25% of home energy loss! Duct leakage can prevent air conditioning and heating systems from doing their jobs properly. Even worse than energy loss, leaking ducts pull dust and other harmful irritants into the home.
REFRIGERANT CHARGE
VERIFICATION
Refrigerant charge verification test requires a certified HERS Rater to connect gauges to the outdoor condenser unit to make sure there is enough refrigerant in the system. If the RCV test was not available, many new AC systems could not be operating at the efficacy level that it was intended to operate at.

BLOWER DOOR TEST
Blower door test is performed to verify building leakage matches the target CFM50 on CF1R when the contractor uses the prescriptive alteration approach.
FAN EFFICACY TEST
Fan efficacy test is performed on new system or new duct work to measure the blower fan's consumption. Fan efficacy is measured in Watts/CFM when the air handler is operating at cooling speed.
ASBESTOS IDENTIFICATION
Houses built prior 1977 may have asbestos as insulation and HVAC ductwork. Our trained raters will identify asbestos in all accessible areas of the duct system. CalCerts does not allow raters to do duct leakage test for homes with asbestos ductwork.
AIR FLOW MEASUREMENT TEST
Testing the system's airflow read to make sure enough air is entering and exiting the system continiously. This test will be peformed if required by CalCerts based on scope of work.
